Remodeling Your Kitchen – The Heart Of Any Home

The kitchen is the heart of any home. It acts as your family hub and main gathering place; a bustling room that needs to function well for your family, but also have a sense of welcome and relaxation.  Here are some tips to help ease your journey when you prepare to remodel your home:

Kitchen Remodel Cost

First off, the budget is a big deal! On average, a basic kitchen remodeling project estimate starts around $50k. Yes! That’s a great deal of money, yet consider the skilled work that must go into the project as well as the cost of all the materials and appliances. Your kitchen designer will walk you through all the options and work with you to find a good compromise between your needs and your budget.  Our goal is to build a kitchen that functions well for you and your family, and increases the value of your home.  This is done by not over-building or under-building for your neighborhood.

Getting Started

To get started, make a list of what you love and what you would like to improve about your current kitchen.  This will help your designer pinpoint your goals for your new kitchen.  “I love that I can watch the kids in the back yard as I wash dishes” or, “I hate that my canned goods get lost in the back of my pantry”.  The solution to a problem area may be something a designer sees yet you’ve not even considered…a eureka mind-blown moment could happen!

Identify Your Priorities For Your New Kitchen Design

Next, make a list of what you’d like to have in your new kitchen and set priorities.  There must be a list of priorities, especially when meeting budget constraints. What options mean the most to you? Deciding early on what features are absolute needs over features that would be really nice to include will help your designer make your kitchen more functional for you and your family.  Do you need smart-home integration, or would you better benefit by a recycling area?

Find Kitchen Design Inspiration

Another great pre-planning assignment is to utilize platforms like Pinterest, Houzz, or even a magazine for design inspiration. Keep in mind that online resources can be great, but may feel overwhelming sometimes. If this is the case for you, limit yourself to a handful of great kitchen and bath magazines to help you envision your space, then work with your kitchen designer to make a kitchen that is designed especially for you and your family.
